Part one (to page 24)
Make a prediction about Guy Montag's relationship with the mysterious Clarisse--what do you think will happen between the two of them? Why do you think she asked Montag if he was happy? Finally, Montag is a fireman; however, he is not like the firemen we know today--he starts fires rather than putting them out. Think of a profession we have today, consider that profession in Montag's "world", and give the profession a futuristic twist. For example, perhaps doctors no longer save lives, rather, they take lives in the form of mercy killings....

I think the relationship between the two of them is a very shaky relationship, she seems to love to read books and Guy Montag seems to love to burn them.

ReplyDeleteand i think a profession now, that would be in guy montag's world would be a teacher, instead of teaching and educating. They brainwash to ensure the governments power and control
I think the relationship between Guy and Clarisse is a little awkward, but I could see it progress as they spend more time together. Guy takes it that Clarisse is somewhat misinterpreting him as a firefighter. He was actually thrown off when Clarisse asked him if he "was happy." He probably thinks she asked that because of the work that he was doing. And like James said, Clarisse seems to love to read books as Guy loves to burn them. It's all still a big question mark this early into the book.
ReplyDeletei believe that their relation ship is out of balance but i think that as it goes on throughout time it will get better. they misinterperate the fact that she called him a firefighter and was a little bit dazed when she asked him if he was happy and like the others said she likes to read books and he likes to destroy them
ReplyDeleteI think that Guy secretly likes Clarisse. She doesn't think that Guy is happy with what he is doing. In his world teachers may brainwash students instead of teaching them.
ReplyDeleteI think that Guy Montag and Clarissa will start talking more and she will teach him to learn and read books and he will eventualy question the authority he is accustomed to. Instead of construction workers building maybe the tear down learning institutes.
