Montag starts to think that there might be something important in books. The difference between books and TV are that 1)TV throws information at you and forces you to go a long with it. 2) You are suppose to digest leisure. 3) The right to carry out actions based onwhat we learn from the interaction of the first two. Faber's plan is to read books to learn about Ceasar. To not garuntee anything in life but to do your own saving and if you drown know you died heading for shore. Montag started to tear pages out of the Bible and tha is what horrified Faber.
ReplyDeleteMontag realizes he isn't happy when he is spending time with Mildred one afternoon reading and all she wants to do is watch TV and refuses to talk about Clarisse. Montag believes by reading books it will help him out of his ignorance. Faber says there are a few things that are different between books and TV such as 1.)TV throws information at you forcing you to go along with it 2.)you are suppose to digest the material leisurely 3.) the right to carry on what you learn and when you can put down the material and reflect on it. Faber inspires Montag to try and plant books in firemen homes. To get Faber to go along with the plan he starts tearing out pages of the Bible.
